Section House System
Aldwickbury Sections
At Aldwickbury, our house system, known as Sections, plays a central role in school life. Our Sections give pupils the opportunity to build friendships across year groups, develop teamwork skills and take part in competitions.
In the Pre-Prep, pupils are assigned a colour (yellow, blue, red and green) to introduce them to the spirit of community from an early age. In Year 3, pupils are then assigned one of four sections.
We have four Sections at Aldwickbury, which are:
- Lowlands (green)
- Midlands (blue)
- Uplands (red)
- Highlands (yellow)
Section Life at Aldwickbury
From Year 3 onwards, Sections meet at various times during the year, from Sports Day and inter-Section music to sports events and other friendly competitions. These shared experiences create a real sense of pride and belonging, with pupils wearing their Section colours with enthusiasm and supporting each other every step of the way.
Pupils from Year 5 also enjoy daily opportunities to engage with their Section, sitting in Section groups at lunchtime, giving them the chance to mix with others from different year groups and build connections across the school.
Each Section is supported by Year 8 Section Captains who lead with enthusiasm and act as role models, helping to unite and support their peers.
Section Competitions and Events
Throughout the year, pupils take part in a rich variety of inter-Section competitions and events, spanning sport, music and other co-curricular challenges. These activities not only encourage healthy competition but also help develop teamwork, confidence and school spirit.
Achievements are regularly celebrated in assemblies, with individual and team successes recognised and commemorated with trophies and cups which take pride of place in the Castle Dining Room.
