Sport

Of particular note is the provision of sport, with a daily games programme, both within the curriculum and as optional activities. Pupils enjoy the opportunity to compete for their school in a notably broad range of sports, often with all those in a whole year group simultaneously playing in fixtures. -ISI Report 2013

Sporting activity provides healthy exercise, helps to develop physical fitness at an early stage and promotes competitive spirit, cooperation and team playing.

Our independent school sports curriculum ensures from Year 3 all boys at Aldwickbury participate in organised games each afternoon. Boys in the Pre-Prep have PE and games sessions organised in their class timetables.

The boys have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sporting activities - principally football, hockey, rugby, cross-country, swimming, athletics, cricket and tennis.

Boys are encouraged to represent Aldwickbury in competition, and fixtures for all teams are regularly organised with other schools. This gives every boy the opportunity to play for the School, not just those playing for the first team of the year group.

All boys through out the school have a weekly swimming lesson and our indoor pool enables us to host swimming galas against other schools as well as train our boys to enter national competitions

We recently added an astro turf providing a great surface for both hockey and tennis.

Sport plays a daily part in the lives of boys at Aldwickbury and encompasses so much whether it is learning basic physical skills, being part of a team, learning to win and lose. Many life skills can be learnt on the assorted playing fields on offer here.
