School Catering at Aldwickbury

Our dedicated in-house school catering team prepares a wide range of freshly made, nutritious meals every day, using high-quality ingredients to fuel pupils for learning and play. There’s always a balance of familiar favourites and adventurous new dishes to keep mealtimes exciting and accessible from pasta, jacket potatoes and weekly roast dinners to chicken katsu curry, paella and pastitsio. We also offer a daily salad bar, soup and sandwiches so that there’s something for everyone.

Dining Together, the Aldwickbury Way

Rather than a canteen system, we eat together in a relaxed, family-style setting. Pupils sit around tables with a member of staff, just as they would at home. These shared meals are a valuable time to chat, unwind and practise table manners in a calm and sociable environment.

Pupil Food Committee

Our Food Committee, made up of pupils from across the school, meets regularly with our Head Chef and Head of Domestic Services to review menus, offer feedback and suggest new ideas. From themed food days to refining favourites, pupil voice helps shape a menu that they enjoy and feel proud of.

Inclusive Catering

We cater for a wide range of dietary needs and ensure that all pupils are well looked after.

We have a School Allergy Team, led by the Head of Domestic Services and the Matrons. We also endeavour to be a nut- and sesame-free site.

Meals are clearly labelled, and alternative dishes are always available when needed. Our school catering team takes care to get to know individual preferences and requirements.

Curriculum Inspired Menus

We love bringing learning to life through themed menus that connect with the curriculum. For example, to enrich Junior pupils’ learning about the Windrush generation, the catering team serves Caribbean-inspired dishes on Windrush Day. Other themed days have included Chinese New Year and our much-loved Christmas lunch.

Hospitality at Aldwickbury

Our school catering team takes pride in supporting events throughout the academic year, from sports teas and open events to running the Coffee Truck complete with our bespoke Aldwickbury coffee blend.
