At Aldwickbury, our flexible boarding provides a warm and caring home-from-home environment at school. Our boarding house is a close-knit community built on kindness, respect and mutual support, where our pupils feel secure and free to be themselves.
We offer a relaxed, homely atmosphere where children can unwind after a busy day. From evening activities to relaxing in the lounge, our nurturing approach helps pupils feel safe and cared for.
Our boarding staff know the children very well and are always available for a friendly chat and ensure they are happy.

A Fun Boarding Community
Life in Aldwickbury’s boarding house is enriched by a varied programme of evening activities and popular themed evenings. These are designed to offer a positive, rewarding and fun experience for all. Theme nights include:

- BBQ and Summer Party
Our boarders have access to a range of excellent facilities including a boarder’s lounge, three themed dormitories offering 20 beds, library and swimming pool. They also benefit from access to the wider school grounds and sports facilities, giving them plenty of space to stay active, play and enjoy time outdoors.
Flexible Boarding at Aldwickbury School
We offer a flexi boarding programme for children in Years 5 to 8, designed to support busy families while giving pupils a fantastic opportunity to develop independence, confidence and organisational skills in a caring environment.
For Year 5 pupils, we offer taster evenings to experience boarding alongside friends. Beyond this, boarding can be regular, occasional, or weekly (Tuesday to Thursday), providing flexibility to suit individual needs.
What Time Do I Go to Bed?
The routine is designed so that you can enjoy Aldwickbury, but not at the expense of your school work. The basic idea is that after 5.50 pm there are “House Rules” rather than school rules, just as you were at home. So the few that are in place are for your benefit and to ensure the smooth running of the community.
7:00am – Wake Up
- Shower, dress and tidy dormitory.
- Access to early morning clubs if the children choose.
7:30am – Breakfast
- A choice of cereals, fruit or porridge, a cooked breakfast or croissants and toast.
5:45pm – Lessons End
- Upstairs to change into mufti (your own clothes)
5:45 – 6:00pm – Supper Begins
- There is always a choice of a main course. Normally there are puddings and cakes as well
6:30pm – Activities
- Organised by the Duty Staff or Mrs S. You’ll have the chance to play games or get involved in something for an hour or so in the evening
7:45pm – Nightcap
- A drink, a biscuit, toast and fruit are available. Occasionally, hot chocolate and muffins too!
8:00pm – Freetime
- Upstairs to the dormitories to relax, play games, watch TV (we have Sky!) or chat with friends or have a game on the Wii!
8:45pm – PJs, Teeth and Toilet
9:00pm – Lights out
