Full Marks at the Oxford University Computing Challenge

,

As a follow-up to the Bebras Challenge last term the Gold Award winners were invited to take part in the first round of the Oxford University Computing Challenge. We’re proud that 15 Aldwickbury boys were invited to step up to the challenge!

The Challenge is an invitation event to encourage students who have achieved a top 10% score in the UK Bebras Challenge to develop their skills further and produce programmed solutions to computational thinking problems.

Of the 15 Aldwickbury boys who took part, three were awarded Merits (approximately the top 5% of entries in this stage). Congratulations to Charlie O, Henry F and Alex M for their outstanding achievement.

Extra special congratulations must be reserved for Felix Q (pictured) who managed to achieve full marks coming joint first in the country out of some 8000 entrants, already narrowed down from 100,000 entrants in the Junior Bebras Challenge! Felix is one of a handful of qualifiers for the final round which will take place in March.

If you would like to know the sort of questions that the boys had to answer please go to the OUCC website.
