It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Mrs Kay Doyle on Thursday January 19th. Kay was an important member of staff at Aldwickbury for 21 years up until 1993 at which time she had been Head of the Junior department for well over 10 years. As the 1993 magazine records, “Her dedicated service first as a remedial teacher and expert tester of potential new boys, was followed in 1980 by her appointment as Head of Juniors, a post she filled with great distinction. Our success as a school owes much to her unstinting service and she will be fondly remembered by generations of boys and parents.”
Kay’s family were also very much part of the Aldwickbury community with her husband Peter fulfilling the role of Bursar and her son as an Aldwickbury pupil and then as a Gapper.
Our thoughts are with Kay’s family at this time and we send our condolences on behalf of the whole Aldwickbury Community.
Kay’s funeral will take place at St Mary’s Church, Childwickbury, on Thursday February 2nd at 3 pm.
A write-up by the boys on Mrs Doyle from the 1993 Aldwickbury magazine can be found here .
