Welcome to the Aldwickbury Nursery in Harpenden
Our Aldwickbury Nursery opened in September 2026, and offers a warm and nurturing environment for children aged 3 – 4. We will welcome children in the September after they have turned 3.
As part of Aldwickbury School in Harpenden, our Nursery children benefit from the school’s exceptional facilities, including a swimming pool, state-of-the-art Sports Hall and dedicated STEM Hub, all set within 20 acres of beautiful grounds.
Located in the heart of Harpenden, our Nursery is only be a short drive from surrounding Hertfordshire towns including St Albans, Welwyn, Hitchin, Redbourn and Wheathampstead.
The Nursery gives boys and girls the opportunity to begin their Aldwickbury journey a year earlier, helping them to develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning from the very start.
Purpose-Built Nursery
Our Nursery features two purpose-built classrooms within a dedicated Early Years space, thoughtfully designed to support learning, curiosity and wellbeing for young children.
Our Nursery children benefit from:

- A Forest School curriculum that sparks curiosity
- Healthy, nutritious meals and snacks
- Developing confidence and key skills, ready for a smooth transition to Reception
Nursery Hours and Wraparound Care
The Nursery will run during term-time, from 8:30am to 3:00pm, following the same schedule as our Pre-Prep.
To support your child’s learning in Nursery, a minimum of 5 sessions per week, including at least 3 mornings is required.
- Whole Day: 8:30am – 3:00pm
- Morning Session: 8:30am – 12:30pm (includes lunch)
- Wraparound Care: Available from 7:30am – 6:00pm
Nursery Curriculum
Our Nursery follows an enhanced Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), providing a play‑based, child‑led curriculum that supports all areas of development and prepares children for a smooth transition into Reception.
Children enjoy a variety of activities to spark curiosity and develop key skills, including phonics, maths, music, drama, Forest School, swimming as well as sessions in our state-of-the-art Sports Hall.
Experienced Early Years Staff
Our Nursery is led by Headmaster, Paul Symes, and our Head of Pre-Prep, Jo Turner. Jo has a wealth of experience in Early Years education and a strong track record in preparing children for the next stages of their learning.
The Nursery is led by a qualified teacher and supported by two EYFS specialist practitioners. As with the rest of the school, classes are small to ensure that your child receives quality one‑to‑one attention while also being large enough to encourage social interaction and play.
