Middle and Senior School at Aldwickbury offers a unique opportunity for pupils to grow both academically and personally in a supportive environment, ensuring your child is fully prepared for their senior school of choice. Middle School at Aldwickbury
Years 5 and 6 at Aldwickbury are exciting years for pupils as they leave the Junior Department and start Middle School at Aldwickbury. Our Middle School is fully immersed in the Senior School, with dedicated teachers trained to GCSE and A Level standards.
Year 5
As pupils enter Year 5, they are assigned a form teacher who continues to support their pastoral and academic needs, while they gain greater autonomy, navigating their way round the school to their different classes. At this stage, they experience specialist subject teachers across all disciplines.
The opportunity to participate in a broad range of extra-curricular clubs, sports events and flexi-boarding becomes available to all pupils from Year 5.
Year 6
In Year 6, pupils are matched with a tutor who will oversee their pastoral and academic development for the duration of their remaining years at the school.
Senior School at Aldwickbury
Years 7 and 8 are formative and special years at Aldwickbury. Pupils continue to flourish, further developing their independence as learners, encounter more exciting opportunities and step into leadership roles within the school community.
Year 7
Year 7 at Aldwickbury is a time of significant personal and academic growth. Pupils begin to develop greater independence as learners and gain the confidence to challenge themselves in new ways, both in and out of the classroom. With small class sizes and tailored support, every child is encouraged to take ownership of their learning and build the resilience needed for the next stage of their journey.
We also provide personalised senior school guidance, working closely with families to help identify the right next step, ensuring each pupil is on a clear path toward a school where they will thrive.
Beyond the classroom, Year 7 offers new opportunities and responsibilities. Pupils explore a broad range of co-curricular activities and begin to play a more active role in school life.
The year concludes with the Year 7 Leadership Week, an inspiring experience that builds confidence, initiative and teamwork. It’s a key experience that prepares pupils to step into their final year at Aldwickbury with purpose and pride.
Year 8
The final year at Aldwickbury is a truly formative experience. Pupils step confidently into leadership roles, becoming Section Captains and role models to younger pupils. They take centre stage in the Senior production; help lead school events and leave their mark on the school community.
It’s a year when everything comes together. Pupils build on the strong foundations laid in earlier years to achieve personal and academic success. By the time they leave Aldwickbury at the end of Year 8, they do so with confidence, maturity and a clear sense of who they are. Pupils are fully ready to thrive at their chosen senior school and to face the challenges of an ever-changing world.
