Religious Studies
The spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of the pupils is excellent. - ISI Report 2013
Aldwickbury is registered with the Department for Children, Schools and Families as having a special religious character; recognised as a Christian school in the Church of England tradition. In accordance with this, our private school Religious Studies curriculum is grounded in the Scriptures and the Christian faith but gives due weight to other major world religions.
To meet the shift in focus at GCSE and A-Level, Year 7 and 8s now study ‘Theology, Philosophy and Religion’ (TPR). The boys enjoy the critical analysis side of this subject as well as the challenge of having to empathise with other people’s points of view. Our new syllabus, based on the new Common Entrance syllabus, is designed to prepare the boys for the new GCSE.
RS and TPR contribute significantly to pupils’ personal development providing them with opportunities to discuss social and moral issues and encouraging them to respect differences of opinion and belief. It develops their sense of identity and their place in society, preparing them for life beyond Aldwickbury.
