At Aldwickbury we aim for our geography curriculum to:

  • Stimulate boys’ interest in their surroundings and in the variety of physical and human conditions on the Earth’s surface.
  • Foster their sense of wonder at the beauty of the world.
  • Develop an informed concern for the environment.

In the Pre-Prep and Junior department, geography is taught by class teachers. They make use of the extensive school grounds and the surrounding area to help bring geography to life.

Specialist teaching is provided to boys in Years 5 to 8 focusing on geographical skills, places and themes. Boys are prepared for Common Entrance, a variety of entrance tests and Scholarship examinations.

Fieldwork is an integral part of the geography curriculum at Aldwickbury. Recent field trips include: River Lea river study, Ashridge Environmental Centre, Stratford Village and Olympic Park and Amersham Field Centre.
