The Pre-Prep's  Week

The Pre-Prep's  Week

It was lovely to see the boys having fun dressed in their jeans today whilst also raising money for Jeans for Genes. Thank you to all of you for contributing so generously to this worthwhile cause.

Carrying on with the charitable theme, our Pre-Prep harvest assembly this year will focus on helping others, especially those unlucky enough to find themselves without a home. To that end we will be supporting a local drop-in centre, Azalea, who work with homeless and vulnerable people in Luton.  Part of their work involves providing food and provisions to those in need and we will be inviting boys to make donations.

Thank you to those boys who have had birthdays so far for bringing in a present to show in assembly.  We have very much enjoyed hearing from them.  There will be birthday assembly as normal next week, Friday 9 October, but none the week after (16 October) as that is our harvest celebration.  All birthdays from 10 October onwards will be celebrated in the first Friday assembly after half term, 6 November.

And finally, a note on what the boys have been doing this week.

Year 2 have been learning about teeth and have created some wonderful, if a little grisly, posters reminding us about dental hygiene! They have also enjoyed the story of The Green Ship, thinking about the historical context as well as using it as a starting point for their own creative writing.

Year 1 have been reading Handa’s Surprise and continue to think about healthy living. They had great fun playing various percussion instruments in their music lesson with Mrs Willson on Tuesday and enjoyed the story of Noah’s Ark in their RE lesson with me.

Reception continue to delight us as they become increasingly confident at their school routine.  They have been using the story of The Little Red Hen as a starting point and choruses of “Not I” have been heard at various times in their classrooms!
