Aldwickbury in Hertfordshire holds regular open mornings for prospective parents to visit the school and meet the Headmaster.
The next open morning is due to be held on Friday 5 October 2018. Please telephone the Registrar for details or to make a personal appointment on 01582 713022.
Private school open days are special because parents are invited to see an ordinary morning with the boys at work – this is how it really is. What makes it stand out as an honest and truly open morning is that the current Year 8 boys give parents a tour of the school. You will discover what it is like to be a boy at Aldwickbury.
Parents have the opportunity to meet current parents, members of staff and often governors of the school so that they can ask those questions the boys cannot answer. The Head will speak for a brief time before the boys take over. The Head of Pre-Prep conducts the tour of the Pre-Prep. At the end of the tour there is a further opportunity to talk to senior members of staff.

How happy and confident the children are in their new environment. Friendliness and openness of staff and teachers; a very happy environment for children which encourages learning and a wonderful support system created by parents who are all very much involved in making the school a better place. Enthusiasm of son for US election!"
"Great school spirit and understanding of boys. Efficient, purposeful, intuitively planned lessons with good pastoral care and great class sizes. Making five football teams for Year 7 & 8."
"Mutual respect between teachers and boys. Small class sizes, caring teachers, well led Pre-Prep. The personal touch from the Pre-Prep head and also the form tutor. Excellent all round."
"The balance between nurturing and challenging learning environment. Variety of activities my son has done - his school day is jam packed with things he loves. Friendliness, extra curricular activities. Caring staff. How well my son has adapted and positive influence the school has on him. Welcoming ethos and dedication to the children and their progression is stunning. In the short time he has been with you, he has undoubtedly grown and remains highly enthusiastic about everything Aldwickbury. Thank you."
"The friendliness and openness of all staff, teaching and non-teaching. There is a wonderful caring, nurturing feel at the school. The commitment to helping the boys learn to read well is outstanding."
"My son is coming home happy and enthusiastic about learning. I would love for this to continue. That is the only thing that matters to me. The caring boy focused atmosphere. The fact my son often doesn't want to come home!!"
They were then asked if there was anything else they would like to add
"We have been extremely impressed with how our son's form teacher and Mrs Latimer have taken the time to actually read our sons reports and support him in his learning. We have attended a number of top Independent schools in London and Herts and Aldwickbury is our opinion is the most welcoming, nurturing and caring school amongst them. We are delighted that our son has been given the opportunity to attend such an amazing school. Thank you."
"The Head of Pre-Prep was very welcoming to our Reception son who has a lot of speech issues. She was very reassuring towards all our concerns when he was about to start school. He is now making great progress and we are very happy."
"Just a big thank you for your support throughout this process!"
"Joining the football camp before term started really helped my son settle quicker and feel less nervous about starting new school - thank you Mr Gilyead and the team."
"It was great - simple, organised, welcoming and respectful."
"The very caring and nurturing environment was the key factor. Our son was seen as an individual and the school engaged in discussing his needs."
"We have been made to feel so welcome by parents, staff, children. In particular, Mr Hales is incredibly inspirational and the values instilled were a big draw for us."
"Don't change anything.... you have an amazing team that manages a very seamless transition. Thank you."
"The staff at all levels are amazingly friendly, helpful and open. There is a real warmth to the school. The Registrar was a great ambassador when I popped by and took time to show me and my son around. She could not have been more welcoming. I love that Mrs Morley took time to visit my son at his nursery. It was a lovely touch to get an Aldwickbury bear to take home and adds to the feeling of caring and connection with the school and staff.Communication via emails, letter and website is excellent."
"You just get boys - that was very evident during the show rounds and a big reason why we moved out of a mixed school."
