School Photographs available to Old Boys
The school is delighted to announce to Aldwickbury Old Boys the launch of Imagebank. This is a revolutionary new online system and service, created and “powered” by Gillman & Soame, which helps us to manage and maintain all of the school’s visual assets, both past and present, and indeed into the future.
In time, we anticipate that there will be hundreds of images that will be available for viewing in our Imagebank, but please be assured that Imagebank is a secure and password-protected environment, which can only be accessed by “authenticated” pupils, parents, former pupils and members of staff.
Gillman & Soame are using the launch of ImageBank to make available for the first time ever their extensive “back-catalogue” of school formal photographs; any images they still have in their archives from our school’s past will also not only be “viewable”, but “purchasable” through our school’s ImageBank.
Equally importantly for the heritage of the school, thanks to ImageBank we are able, for the first time ever, to scan-in (“digitise”) our own valuable and irreplaceable archive prints and negatives, so that Gillman & Soame can then upload them into our own “Archive” section of ImageBank. This effectively “future-proofs” our school’s old historic visual records, and means that if anything happens to the originals, we will have the reassurance of back-up digital copies, which can be printed and re-printed at our will.
We will build this online gallery of our own “digitised” school archive records over time, and we intend to enlist the help and support of our alumni base to help us caption and date these records; furthermore, as ImageBank is viewable by a restricted audience over the “world wide Web”, it doesn’t matter if our former pupils are scattered all over the world – they can still view the archive images online and notify us by email if they can provide us with vital missing information. We also hope ImageBank will help us to grow our visual archive records, as the alumni come to appreciate the value of its existence, and submit their own historical “schooldays” images to us for inclusion in the system.

In summary, ImageBank is a valuable and elegant new online system which allows us to “corral” all of the school’s images, past and present, into one central repository; this repository facilitates the authorised visitor (thanks to its gallery format and ease of navigation) to locate, view and, if desired, purchase any image stored in it. We believe it will provide added value and enjoyment to our pupils, our parents, our staff and our alumni. We hope you will lend it your support.
