World Maths Day 3rd March 2010
Thursday 18th March 2010
Most of the boys were able to have a session in the ICT room during the World Maths Day which actually lasted for more than 24 hours, just as long as it was the 3rd March somewhere in the world. Most of the boys had practiced in Week 7 and at home. They played against other pupils around the world in live games of mental arithmetic. With over 2 million pupils from 37,000 schools in 200 countries registered, we wondered if this year’s competition would beat last year’s world record of correctly answering 452,681,681 questions. Each game lasted for 60 seconds and the pupils could play up to 500 games, earning points for each correct answer. The boys who answered the most correct answers appeared in the Hall of Fame.
