The New Term
Friday 9th September 2011
The summer holidays already seem a long time ago and the weather has certainly made it feel like the autumn term. The boys have settled very well into the familiar routines of Aldwickbury which has ensured a smooth beginning of year. I am also delighted to report that our new boys have made an excellent start to their Aldwickbury careers – I hope that they continue to enjoy being part of the school community. The new staff have settled to their tasks with great enthusiasm and are beginning to get used to the various routines and quirks of the school day.
A busy and exciting term lies ahead. I am thrilled that the school is in such good health at this time, especially in terms of the number of boys, which stands at 326! I spoke to the Year 8 boys on the first day of term about how they will shape and influence this coming academic year. In doing so I reminded them that their first day at Aldwickbury, for those who joined in Reception, was also my first day at the school. I am not sure who has grown and matured the most since 2003, and I would not expect a response from the boys! But as always that sense of continuity is what helps to ensure the success of our school.
