Red and White Day for Japan
Friday 18th March 2011
Red and White Day As we have people in our school community who have family and friends in Japan at this terrible time we would like to do something in school to support them. We have decided to have a 'Red and White Day' next Friday - 25 March when we would like all the boys to come to school dressed in red and white. If your son could bring a £1 donation on that day the money we collect will go to Shelter Box, a small (but ever growing) charity based in Cornwall that sends humanitarian aid in the form of emergency boxes to disaster areas. These boxes contain essentials for day to day living after the disaster such as tents, blankets, water containers etc. They have already sent boxes to Brazil, Pakistan and Christchurch this year and are shipping out thousands at the moment to Japan. There will be posters around the school telling you and the boys about the charity. We do hope that everyone will support us and bring a minimum of a pound for the privilege of not wearing school uniform. The boys have been talking about the earthquake and tsunami in geography this week and we will have an assembly next week so that the boys know about the work of Shelter Box. If you would like to know more, the website for the charity is www.shelterbox.org
