Football this term
Friday 17th December 2010
Once again we have enjoyed a tremendously successful and rewarding football season. Every boy from Year 3-8 has represented the school in a competitive match. We have played 144 matches this term, winning 64, drawing 18, and scoring 350 goals! The depth and range we have at Aldwickbury is second to none for a prep school of our size. At senior level we have played 1st-4th XI; Colts A-F (with the F team winning both their matches, scoring 11 and conceding 0!), and Under 10 A-D.
Just last week we put out 10 teams against Beechwood Park School, and whilst results are not the be all and end all, it is worth noting that we won 7 and drew 3 of these matches!!!
A fine example throughout the school this term has been set by the highly successful 1st XI. They played some wonderfully attractive football, and were only defeated 4 times out of the 16 matches played. Once again the 6-a-side team qualified for the national finals, and in the 12 games played they were only defeated twice. A statistic like this makes you realise just how difficult it is to actually win the national finals!
Football at Aldwickbury continues to go from strength to strength. All boys from Years 2-8 are receiving some excellent coaching, and they are certainly being taught how to play in the correct way, being both gracious in defeat and magnanimous in victory.
Well done to ALL of the boys who took part in football this term with great enthusiasm and commitment.
