Aldwickbury Looks to the Future and it's Good!
Friday 4th March 2011
I am writing with some really good news which underlines the strength of Aldwickbury School at the moment.
As some of you will already know, our places for new pupils this September have been heavily oversubscribed, and we cannot currently meet the demand for entry into both Reception and Year 4. This is a wonderful position to be in, given the general economic climate which is seeing a number of other prep schools suffering from falling numbers. Currently we have a very strong interest in the school for admission for the next couple of years which bodes well for the future.
I have looked carefully at this situation both with the Governors and members of the Senior Management Team, and we believe it gives us an ideal opportunity to increase the capacity we provide in those two year groups. Therefore in September we will have a three form entry in Reception and Year 4.
Having said that, a major attraction of Aldwickbury has always been the intimate feeling that the school fosters. So, although we will now be having three classes in those two year groups, each form will be smaller than the two we have at present. This will allow teachers to give even more individual time and attention to the boys, and the quality of education will remain of a very high standard. But, whilst the overall year group will increase in size, we will ensure that it stays within manageable limits. Even though the overall number of pupils will increase we will still retain the small and friendly feel that is so important both to you and to us. That is something we will absolutely not compromise.
In these challenging times I am delighted that the demand for Aldwickbury School is so high, and I can only repeat that the fact that we are able to expand at this time is testament to all that is good about our school. Our over-riding aim is to ensure that we remain strong and buoyant in the coming years, so that the plans that we have to further enhance the educational provision for your sons can continue.
During the next few weeks the finishing touches will be put on these plans, and I will keep everyone informed of all that is happening.
Thank you for your continued support of the school - it is as always greatly appreciated.
