AFA AGM

Last night saw the first offical meeting for the newly formed Aldwickbury Friends Association (AFA). The AGM was held with the first committee members duly elected into the roles.
It was wonderful to see the support from a good number of other parents who represented all year groups within the School.

Rugby at last!

After the snow and frozen pitches that ruined too many matches before half-term, it was nice to see the boys back out on the fields this week training hard. Results were excellent against Edge Grove on Wednesday as all our teams recorded fine wins. Well done to all of the boys involved, and this should give them some much needed confidence for our matches against Beechwood Park on Saturday morning.

Blue Watch Visit Reception
Friday 24th February 2012On Monday the Reception boys very much enjoyed a visit from Blue Watch Fire Brigade. They listened carefully as the fire officers told them about their work. As you can imagine the best part for the boys was climbing aboard the fire engine!

The Boys’ Council had their first full meeting just before Half Term. The Council is currently formed from boys in Years 5 to 8 but there are plans to get the Junior Department involved at some point soon. There is one boy from each section in each year group with the exception being Year 5 where each form is represented.

Aldwickbury Boys Add to their Success
Friday 24th February 2012Last Monday saw four Year 5 mathematicians head off to Belmont School to defend the Maths Challenge title that Aldwickbury won last year. This year's competition proved to be even stronger with 26 schools entering 51 teams. The structure of the afternoon saw seven rounds of different maths challenges set out on a round robin basis. £5704 for Help For Heroes
Monday 20th February 2012The boys and staff were delighted to welcome Heather Waterfield from Help for Heroes to their assembly to present her with a cheque for £5704. The boys raised this tremendous sum with the help of parents and staff through their annual School Bazaar. Each year the boys are able to choose a charity to support and this year they decided that Help for Heroes was the one that inspired them the most. They were thrilled… read more
A Visit from John Harris, author and storyteller
Monday 20th February 2012John Harris, a storyteller and author, came in on Wednesday February 8th 2012. First he told a story about a man and a woman, Fred and Frederica, who found a pot of gold coins that they didn’t want to give to the king (Greedy Greg). Year 6 At Home
Friday 10th February 2012Half Term concluded with the boys in Year 6 showing their parents some glimpses of what they have been doing in school in their “At Home”.
The evening included a Latin rap, a French version of Mr Bean, Spanish bullfighting and beatbox, German Blind Date, drama chorus pieces, gymnastics demonstration, music, a historical song (or was that hysterical) and science.
