The term is very much under way and I am delighted to see the boys so involved and busy in their academic pursuits. There have been plenty of trips and events this week that have been enjoyed by all. The whole of Year 7 have been in France experiencing many of the sites of Paris as well as improving their French. In the Junior Department both year groups have been on educational visits supplementing their classwork. Away from the classroom it was lovely to see lots of boys in Year 5 enjoyed their first taste of boarding, another part of the all-round Aldwickbury education.
I am delighted to announce that on Thursday evening our Fencing Team was awarded the Primary Schools’ Sports Team of the Year in the St Albans and District sports awards ceremony. It was a tremendous accolade and recognition of the hard work and ability of the boys involved. It was no surprise that the Paul Davies Fencing Academy also came away with other awards reflecting their achievements in the local area. I would like to congratulate the Aldwickbury boys on their achievements and also thank Paul Davies and Vicky Carson who work so hard coaching our boys.
If all of this was not enough, last Sunday our skiing teams competed in the English Schools’ Skiing qualifying races. Aldwickbury ended up with a clean sweep, our Under 14 teams placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd, whilst in the Under 12 age group we came 1st and 2nd! Well done to the boys and Mr Gilyead!
