It is hard to believe that Half-Term is already upon us, but
I know that the boys are looking forward to the break.
There has been a great deal achieved in so many areas
recently and I have been pleased to visit lessons to see the boys so engaged
with their work. Whether a Year 3
creative writing lesson or a Year 8 science experiment – the sense of interest
in the work was evident. Looking at some
of the books of our younger boys was equally heartening; the progress from the
first page through to the most recent work was amazing. It is wonderful to see how much some of the
boys in the Pre-Prep and Junior Departments have learned since September!
This week the Year 5 boys enjoyed showing some of their work
to their parents; the Year 5 Celebration of Learning was very much a
celebration! The evening started with
the whole year group giving some excellent performances, showing something of
the music and drama that they have been involved with recently. We then moved to the Castle Dining Room where we
saw some displays of work from other subjects and where the boys enjoyed
testing the adults with various maths problems.
Our sportsmen have been busy as well, and despite the
weather they have continued to work hard. The most recent cricket matches against
Lockers’ Park showed plenty of progress with six wins from seven fixtures. Let us hope for unbroken sunshine after the
Half-Term break.
With best wishes for a restful week.
