Aldwickbury is registered with the Department for Children, Schools and Families as having a special religious character; recognised as a Christian school in the Church of England tradition. In accordance with this, the Religious Studies curriculum is grounded in the Scriptures and the Christian faith but gives due weight to Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism, any of which may occur at Common Entrance or other senior school entrance examination. Daily assembly, attended by all pupils, always includes a short Act of Worship.
Religious Studies contributes significantly to pupils’ personal development providing them with opportunities to discuss social and moral issues and encouraging them to respect differences of opinion and belief. It develops their sense of identity and their place in society, preparing them for life beyond Aldwickbury.
