Spanish is introduced in Year 7, while boys continue learning French and Latin. At the end of Year 8 boys generally take Common Entrance or IAPS Certificate in Spanish. Our aim is to help pupils appreciate the many wonderful traditions and unusual customs of a different country.
The curriculum is designed so that the pupils start using the target language from the very first lesson. The early inhibition that many pupils suffer from disappears rapidly to give way, like magic, to more confidence and so much enjoyment.
We aim to be diverse in our teaching styles and lessons regularly include games, role-play, songs, mini-productions and even salsa lessons! By the end of Year 8, boys can move on to their senior schools with a great sense of confidence and achievement.
