Latin begins in Year 6. Both A and B sets follow the syllabus laid down by ISEB. The A set works at a faster pace since it is expected that these bo ys will attempt scholarships or the highest of the three levels in Common Entrance when they reach Year 8. A similar pattern continues in Year 7. In Year 8 boys are guided towards the level of examination appropriate to their ability. Weekly tests on grammar and vocabulary take place from the start.
Scholarship candidates who take their exams early in the Spring term are introduced to Italian thereafter.
