Aldwickbury is a designated independent school of religious character.
One of our aims as a school is:
"To give boys a sound grounding in the Christian faith and contribute to their spiritual and moral development".
This is achieved in a number of ways:
- A daily Christian assembly which includes a hymn, a Bible reading and prayers. This is an act of corporate worship which all pupils in Years 3 – 8 attend.
- In the Pre-Prep department there is weekly Christian assembly for all boys from Reception to Year 2. On other days year group and class assemblies take place when, amongst other topics, the boys will hear stories and mark festivals of other faiths.
- Each term a number of Sunday evening services are held which are acts of worship based in the Church of England doctrine that includes hymns, prayers, confession and creed. Boys from Year 3 and 8, with their families and staff are welcome to attend.
- In religious studies lessons, which are taught from Year 5 upwards, we teach the Biblical aspects of the Common Entrance syllabus. In Years 3 and 4 other faiths are considered in religious studies lessons.
