A Busy Week in the Englsih Department
Friday 26 Feb 2016
This week has been a wonderfully busy one and the English Department played its part by hosting two days of workshops with local schools and an afternoon with the Young Shakespeare Company. We have been running the Keen Writer Days for nine years now and this year invited Kerry Godsman, Lead advisor for Language and Literacy in Hertfordshire, to come along too. She was very impressed by the quality of the work she saw and by our boys as hosts. She described the project as ‘possibly unique’ and expressed an interest in finding ways to work with us in future. Well done to the boys in Year 5 who helped to create such a good impression. Fred Sedgwick’s work didn’t end on Tuesday as he worked with all of Year 5 on Wednesday. Year 6 enjoyed Monday afternoon in the company of the Young Shakespeare Company, who performed an abridged version of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’: what a fantastic way to kick off our 400th anniversary celebrations of Shakespeare’s life.
